Walmart Chief Communications Officer Allyson Park will step down from her current role on September 1, transitioning to an advisory role, and will remain with the company until February 1 of next year. Park confirmed this to Retail Dive via email.

According to a memo sent by Dan Bartlett to employees last Friday, starting in September, Park will provide counsel to Dan Bartlett, Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs, while the company searches externally for a successor. The memo shows that during this period, the responsibilities and reporting lines of several executives have been adjusted accordingly. The memo was shared with Retail Dive by Park.

Park joined Walmart three years ago, after previously spending about a year at Yum Brands and longer tenures at confectionery group Mars and Coca-Cola. During her time at Walmart, the company experienced significant leadership changes—including the departure of longtime CEO Doug McMillon and a management restructuring under his successor, John Furner.

"During this period, the team has been committed to ensuring that our employees and external stakeholders have a clear and consistent understanding of our strategy, performance, and priorities," Bartlett said.

In recent years, Walmart has also invested heavily in e-commerce and has attracted more higher-income customers amid rising costs that have put pressure on households across income brackets.

Bartlett also mentioned that Park oversaw changes in Walmart's communications department, including investments in talent.

"During her tenure, the team has become more integrated, digital, and closely connected to the business, while also focusing more on enhancing Walmart's reputation and consistently telling our story across different audiences," he said.
